Silver Dolphin Books Review and Contest

*** Congratulations to Paula! ***

Hi readers! I was recently contacted by the wonderful people at Silver Dolphin Books! I was offered the opportunity to review, for you to read, a book of my choice from their broad selection of children's books! After looking through the variety of books they have to offer, I was especially exciting to bring this company to your attention.

Silver Dolphin Books publishes books for children preschool-aged to 12 years old. Their books range from activity-style to novelty even to education-style, but all have one major commonality. They are all highly interactive and are aimed at providing children with an engaging learning experience!

The little guy in the photo above is my 2-year-old nephew Xavier! He is a tad young for the recommended age range of the books, however, I don't think any child is to young to learn. So I set out on the Silver Dolphin Books Website to find a book to review that he would love!
The book that I chose in the picture with Xavier is from the Snappy Sounds series and is called Snappy Sounds Woof! The art work in the book is by Derek Matthews!
As the front cover of the book proclaims, "Noisy Pop-up Fun" and "With Fun Animal Sounds", this book is full of interactive sounds and learning. I chose this book because I know that my nephew is stimulated by sound and animals in particular. As you can see by the pictures, he LOVED it! The front of the book is very colorful and has a huge dog on it so that immediately caught his eye when I handed him the book.

Each page in the book contains a different animal and each page makes the coordinating animal sound! The first is the cat, which meows loudly as the picture of the cat pops from the page! Each different animal and sound is equally as colorful and engaging. Now we have a dog at our house, so naturally Xavier's favorite page was the dog that says "Woof!". The pages also contain smaller pictures and words that go with the animal that you can teach your child. For example, the cat also has a fish, milk, mouse, and rain with a picture and words of each. Of course the page has a little snippet about the animal that is easy for children to understand rhymes to make it more fun.

My nephew has a great time opening and reopening the pages of this book! He is still a little young so he has to be supervised to make sure he doesn't try to take the kitty or dog out of the book, but he loves the sounds. The book clearly brings him joy and is teaching him the sounds that different animals make in a fun way.

The book was shipped to me in a nice padded envelope and was not at all damaged. I think shipping is a big deal when it comes to books because a damaged book just isn't as fun to read! The staff of Silver Dolphin Books have been very pleasant to work with also. These are all things that make a company great. Great customer service goes a long way with me and my pig food so hats off to Silver Dolphin Books. They are also on Twitter and are ready and willing to talk books with you and help you find the perfect book or answer your questions! I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a fun, interactive book for a little one that they love.

I really didn't like the layout of the site. I wish the books were arranged by age and that instead of a list it was a picture of the cover of the book.
