Sunday Supports Cruelty-Free - Luxury Lane Soap & Soy

Welcome to the second edition of Sunday Supports Cruelty-Free! See our first post on cruelty-free products here and start your journey to supporting kind companies. There are lots of reasons to seek out companies that are cruelty-free, but the best reason in my opinion is that no living creature had to suffer at my expense. Remember that a cruelty-free product has no animal derived ingredients, has not one ingredient that is tested on animals, and the finished product is not tested on any animal! This week I am again focusing on cruelty-free bath and personal products. I am across Luxury Lane Soap & Soy while searching around on Etsy for interesting shops. I am always impressed by shops that have a variety of interesting items and was really interested when I saw that her items are VEGAN! Kylee hand makes each product in her shop with the safety of her family and the earth in mind. Read on to learn more about Kylee and this awesome, kind shop...

What would you like your customers to know about you?

My name is Kylee Lane and my husband and I have two children, a 7 yr old daughter and a four yr old son. I run Luxury Lane Soap & Soy out of our home in northwest Iowa. I've spent nearly seven years doing independent sales, starting with AVON, next Mary Kay and then moving to my own products. I love to shop. I love meeting new people and sharing ideas! So it only seemed natural that I would pursue a career in small business. I enjoy being a small business because I feel I am able to offer a much more personal shopping experience verses a large corporate company.

How did you begin your journey into hand made products?

I've always been a "hands on" sort of person. I took multiple art classes while attending school and found that I really enjoyed crafting! After having children, I just didn't have the time to make things like I use to. My son has extremely sensitive skin and after a lot of research, I started making ultra gentle soaps for him. From there, one thing just led to another! I started making soaps as party favors, as gifts and next came candles and tarts...I've made hair care products, lotions, creams...you name it, I've researched, tested, explored and made it! Handmade products are a great way for me to tap into my creative and artistic side, while fueling my need to learn and explore!

Why is making vegan and animal friendly products important to you?

I only use the most pure ingredients I can find. Everything I make, my family and I use. Cruelty-free products are important me to because in no way would I ever want to have anything to do with the torture companies subject animals to! No living thing needs to suffer, I feel very strongly about the well being of EVERY creature. That's one of the greatest things about handmade products, you have complete control of your ingredients and where they come from!

Review!

Kylee was kind enough to send me several items to try from her shop. I must say I was really impressed as soon as I opened the box she shipped the products in! I could smell the soap she sent me as soon as I opened it. Everything in the box was neatly wrapped and safely packed with peanuts. Very professional and cute packaging goes a long way with me because it shows that they are care how the products are received after shipping.

The first product I tried is pictured to the left and is her wonderful Lemon, Sage, and Ginger Shea Butter Bar Soap. I am telling you this soap smells heavenly. It's very pretty to, the kind of soap you don't want to use because it looks to nice. I sat it in my bathroom on my soap dish for a few days before I actually could bring myself to use the soap. Wouldn't you know my whole BATHROOM smells like Lemon, Sage, and Ginger soap now. If you like lemon scented things, you'll love this. I finally used the soap for hand washing and was impressed that it didn't dissolve away or crack. (cheap soap does) My hands are so soft! I haven't had to lotion my hands in a few weeks since using this soap.

I was super interested to try the "Edible Perfume" (pictured below) Kylee had listed on her shop. I've never seen edible perfume before and was very excited to receive it. I received the Berry Kisses Edible Perfume and it comes in the "roller" style perfume tube. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've smelled so good lately I could eat my own arms. The perfume smells, to me, just like a bowl of berries with sugar on top of them. It is not an overpowering scent, but doesn't fade away after a few hours either.
Kylee was also kind enough to send one of her Cupcake scented Crystal Soy Candles. Yes, it smells exactly like a vanilla cupcake. I just can't bring myself to burn it. It smells good enough to make my stomach growl!

Let me tell you some other things I loved about the products I received... First, as I said before, they are all cruelty-free. No guilt in using these products. I was really blown away by the fact that each and every ingredient was listed on the packaging of the soap and perfume. This is super important for people who have allergies and skin sensitivity! Finally, I have been using my perfume and soap everyday. Neither are nowhere near used up. In other words, they are worth the cost because they are QUALITY products.
