Happy Easter to you! Welcome to Feed Your Pig Sunday Supports! This week I am focusing on a cause that really means a lot to me. I really believe in the rights of animals especially the right to live free from unnecessary and unnatural suffering. So this week Feed Your Pig Supports Cruelty-Free Products!
What is a cruelty-free product?
A cruelty-free product means that the finished product has not been tested on any animal, nor has any ingredient in the product been tested on any animal, nor is any piece, part, or ingredient of the product from the body of an animal.
Most people understand that terrible things go on in this world and one of them is needless testing of chemicals on animals. Sometimes just how serious or how terrible the suffering of a living creature isn't impressed on people until they see it for themselves. I feel so strongly about suffering and hate it so much that seeing suffering in any form upsets me to a serious degree. I struggle to volunteer or help the cause of animals because of the degree to which it upsets me. I admire those who can rescue abused animals, inform people of the horrors, do undercover investigations to bring attention to animals, people who are "animal cops", and so on. There job is terrible. I can't stand to know of suffering especially not that of a helpless animal.
So in thinking about what I could do to support animal welfare in my own way and preserve my own sanity, I decided to start changing my habits. I am slowly replacing my household cleaning supplies, hygiene supplies, etc to be cruelty-free and safe for people and pets. I am also eating less and less meat in the process as I move toward a more animal and earth friendly lifestyle. Since most of us are raised to eat meat, learning to not eat it isn't an easy process.
Cruelty-free products will be featured regularly on my blog from now on as I find new ways to be friendly to animals. I will be providing reviews here and contests in order to encourage others to buy products that don't test on animals and cause needless suffering. Buying these products and using them will make you feel good knowing that you saved at least one animal from a life of suffering. So I won't be posting terrible pictures of suffering here. We will keep it positive as I'm sure anyone reading this does not need a picture to know how terrible life can be. On to our first review and contest.....

The first cruelty-free products I reviewed are from Yes To Carrots! Yes To Carrots very kindly offered to send me a set of products to try out and some to giveaway to readers! They are on Twitter and are a joy to talk to. They actually respond to tweets, which to me is the sign of a great company. Yes To Carrots actually wants to interact with the consumers they sell to.
Yes! Their products are made from carrots! They also make products from Tomatoes and Cucumbers to! I was able to try 3 products from there extensive line of cruelty-free, eco-friendly, and people friendly products! Read on to learn about each and your opportunity to win a mystery product pack from Yes To Carrots!
Yes To Cucumbers Completely Cooling Body Butter is the first I tried. I was most excited about this one because I am all about body butter right now! Like all the products from Yes To, this was is totally free of a animal byproducts and is not tested on animals. Yes it doe smell like cucumbers! As soon as I opened the jar I knew I would just love it! The product is thick and creamy like a good moisturizing product should be. It's obviously not the cheapo runny kind that does nothing for your skin.
I went about the business of putting the body butter on my newly shaved legs (TMI I know, but every lady knows that newly shaved legs need lotion or they dry out). I don't know exactly which of the ingredients it is (cucumber probably), but it really is completely cooling! As the jar says, it did seep right into my skin without me having to start a fire rubbing it into my legs! My legs are soft and smooth as we speak people! My husband, who has terribly dry skin, also tried this out and loved it. His hands were very cracked and dry, but started to heal up after a few days of using the Completely Cooling Body Butter!
Yes To Carrots Pampering Carrot Juice Shampoo and Yes To Carrots Pampering Hair Mud Conditioner was also sent my way. Now, I have very long fine hair that tangles very easily. I have a hard time finding shampoo and conditioner that actually does work on my hair. Usually shampoo drys my hair out and the conditioner does nothing to moisturize or detangle my hair. I decided to use the Yes To Carrots products all the way to the last drop to provide you with the most useful and truthful review! Yes To Carrots did not disappoint me.
Yes To Carrots Pampering Mud Hair Conditioner combines Dead Sea Mud, organic carrot,
organic pumpkin, organic sweet potato, organic melon and organic orange – simply delicious. The mud helps to nurish and moisturize your hair and scalp. The directions for conditioner read: "After shampooing, apply conditioner generously to your hair and scalp. Leave for 2-3 minutes while thinking about your next vacation. Rinse thoroughly and comb through while wet." Who can't use a few minutes of positive daydreaming to start off (or end) your day on a better note? What an origonal idea for packaging. This is another example of how Yes To knows it's customer base.

This is another example of how Yes To knows it's customer base.So I did as I was told and rubbed this conditioner all over my hair for more than a month every morning and thought about a cruise I'd like to take or lounging on the beach with my hubby. How relaxing especially because the conditioner smells devine and is very creaming and soothing. Did I say every morning for more than a month?!? Talk about feeding the pig people. I usually go through a bottle of conditioner in a mere 2 weeks, but this conditioner is so thick and works so well that a little goes a long way. Every day I get out of the shower and I am amazed. I can actually run a brush or a comb straight through my hair out of the shower without hitting one since tangle. My hair is softer and has more shine.
Can I tell you the best thing about the shampoo and conditioner? On the back of the bottle, under the ingreidants, it actually says "Against Animal Testing". Not "not tested on animals" or "finished product not tested on animals". Yes To is making their kind and positive ethics known on the back of their bottles. This alone would keep me buying their products. Yes To products are THE exact example of why products do not need to be tested on animals in order to work! I could just go on and on about it, but I will close it up. I am highly impressed. Run a buy some.

My family volunteers at a cat shelter. Any spiders that find their way into our house are escorted out by my daughter. It would be pretty hypocritical of us to care about the animals we see and NOT the ones we don't see. And who knows - we may be reincarnated as animals so we certainly don't want to be experimented on ourself!
i would like the tomato shampoo and conditioner.
I want to try the shampoo! I've heard about this product line and I've always wanted to try it. It looks fantastic.

My local Walgreens in Montana sells YES TO CARROTS! News to me!
info (@) PingfordsPorridge dot com
Why is it important to buy cruelty free? It's absolutely critical that human beings treat all living creatures with respect. It's equally important to teach our children to respect, love and honor the tiny creatures in our lives and on this planet. Buying cruelty-free means respecting and honoring those who cannot defend and protect themselves.

My nearest retailer is Walgreens!
Buying exclusively cruelty-free products is critical to me, because I believe that God has placed animals in our lives as a blessing, and that we're called to care for them and to be loving, merciful stewards of them - NOT to exploit them for our own whims.

I think animal cruelity is wrong because they are all God's creatures and they all have a purpose on this earth may it be big or small. Some animals are for keeping elderly people company or they could help blind people see. All animals deserve to be treated with respect and have the right not to have makeup or products tested on them.

The nearest retailer for me is Walgreens and I go there all the time! Now I will have to specifically make a point to check out the product line there.
joannaonthelake@gmail.com
I am passionate about not using products unless they are cruelty-free - what kind of a vain person would I be if I used products to gain in my own benefit at the expense of an innocent and harmless animal? These days that is the the first thing I look for when considering to purchase a new health, bath or beauty product. Second, is to make sure the company is proactive in eco-friendly practices. Testing on any kind of animal is a form of torture and animals are helpless and defenseless and it is just plain evil to harm them in this form of way when there are so many alternative ways to test products without the use of animals.

There is no justification on testing non-essential products on ANY animals. It truly is inhumane.
The next step is one day to have NO ANIMAL TESTING AT ALL for ANY PRODUCTS. We'll get there.
I want to try the Body Scrub.
