Success Rice wants to Feed Your Gut (and your Pig!)

If you're like me, an aspiring (certainly not gourmet) cook, rice can be a tad intimdating to cook! Cook it to long and it is mushy and gross. Cook to little and you have crunchy grossness. God forbid you put in to little or to much water! How can anyone with novice cooking skills make a fabulous meal including properly cooked rice? Well, recently I was given the opportunity to try out rice from the Sucess Rice company!

I tried the Success "10 Minute" Boil-in-Bag White Rice, which was easy to find at my local Kroger store! The directions on the box gave me the option to cook with my microwave or by stove. I went ahead and chose the stove option and filled my pot with water and put in one bag of rice. Setting the timer on my microwave for 8 minutes (8 to 10 minutes of cook time per the box) after it started to boil, I went back to grilling my chicken. DING! It's done! Out of the pot with my bag of rice and into a serving bowl. I'm amazed! It is fluffy and not sticking together! It's not crunch nor mushy! What an easy way to make a side dish.

Did I mention that Success Rice is only around $3 per box and each box contains 4 bags of rice! Each bag contains 2 cups/servings per bag making it great for making small meals or meals for just 1 or 2! Some of the healthier benefits to Success Rice? Of course this dish won't make you fat! It is cholesterol free, sodium free, fat free, trans fat free, gluten free, and a great source of folic acid. It also comes in brown and Jasmine rice varieties! Success Rice has graciously offered to give 5 Feed Your Pig readers the opportunity to try their great product on your family for FREE! Yes, they are going to feed your gut and your pig!

We eat rice a lot - a nice change from potatoes, and when your husband doesn't eat cheese, starch dishes are limited!! We eat it a lot with burritos and stir fry.

I visited the Success site and learned this:

People who eat rice have more nutritious diets that are higher in 12 essential vitamins and minerals, including folic acid, potassium and vitamin C and lower in saturated fat and added sugar, than the diets of non-rice eaters, according to a new study presented at the American Dietetic Association Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo.

We're fond of rice in casseroles. I recently found a can of crab leftover from a batch of crab dip I made for a party. I mixed it with white sauce, monterey jack, canned green chiles and rice and baked it up till it was all bubbly--it turned out to be yummy! Thank you for the offer!
